Award-Winning Family Travel Writer
I’m Karen Basnett, an award-winning family travel writer, freelance travel journalist and luxury family travel specialist with more than 20 years’ experience. I’ve written more than 1,000 travel articles covering family holidays, hotels, resorts and destinations, with work for Mumsnet, Condé Nast Traveller, Wanderlust, Lonely Planet, TripSavvy and Kiddie Holidays. I write useful, search-focused family travel content for hotels, resorts, tourism boards, travel brands, magazines and family-focused websites.
What I write
• Family travel blog posts
• Destination guides for families
• Hotel and resort reviews
• Luxury family travel content
• SEO travel articles
• Sponsored and commissioned articles
• Travel itineraries and holiday guides
• Website content for hotels, resorts and travel brands
Why work with me
My writing combines SEO knowledge with first-hand travel experience. As founder of The Family Holiday Collection and a luxury travel advisor, I have direct insight into what families are searching for, which hotels they are comparing and the questions they ask before they book. That means I can create content that does more than fill a website.
I focus on content that helps you:
• Reach families searching for holidays online
• Answer the questions that influence booking decisions
• Improve long-term Google visibility
• Explain what makes your hotel or destination different
• Turn travel research into genuine booking interest
Audience and reach
The Family Holiday Collection reaches more than 60,000 monthly readers, with visitors spending an average of nine minutes exploring content on the site. It also generates more than 20 family holiday booking enquiries each week. I’m also a regular contributor to established family travel platforms including Mumsnet Travel, reaching parents actively researching their next holiday.
